In Focus PBS is proud to continue its relationship with legendary actor and philanthropist Martin Sheen.
Mr. Sheen has been an important part of American film and television history. He has played iconic characters on the big screen including celebrated roles in Apocalypse Now and Badlands and is more recently known for his turn as President Bartlet on the award winning NBC drama The West Wing.

Over the years, Martin Sheen has given his time and money to a variety of worthwhile causes. His devotion to the causes he cares about continues. The TV program host is involved with causes ranging from fighting pollution to protecting marine life through ocean conservation.
Sheen is also heavily involved in the Walkabout Foundation which works for a cure for paralysis and provides all terrain wheelchairs to people in need.
Just last year, Sheen’s son Emilio Estevez premiered a film on the subject. At the debut, Estevez and his father secured former President Bill Clinton to serve as the keynote speaker for the event.
Sheen also works in the homeless community raising awareness and funding for shelters through his work with the St. Francis Food Pantries and Shelters organization. He is also a spokesperson for the American Association of Retired Persons.
Over the years, Mr. Sheen has also been a noted political activist. He’s participated in several demonstrations over the years, some of them leading to arrest for the actor. Yet he continues to hold strong conviction to the causes he cares about.
